Bitdefender Threat Scanner Review

Bitdefender is an excellent Mac antivirus program. It has a high rate of malware detection, as well as other useful security features. However, it’s not free of weaknesses.

The default interface is easy-to-navigate and categorizes features into three categories: Privacy, Security, and Utilities. The Protection tab is mainly dedicated to the features you’d expect from any antivirus program, like real time scanning, firewall monitoring and countermeasures against ransomware. The Privacy tab provides ways to be secure on the internet, including a secure web browser that runs websites within an sandbox to stop malware from infecting the normal browser. And the Utilities tab covers optimization tools and a file shredder that erases files with a unique algorithm, making them unrecoverable even in the event that they are deleted.

Other features are included on premium plans, such as a handy password manager and a solution called Anti-Tracker that can prevent excessive tracking carried out by many web services. The program also comes with a vulnerability scan that can iphone vs android identify outdated applications, weak passwords, and Windows updates that haven’t yet been applied. It also provides a fast customized scan that takes only five minutes, and is significantly faster than competitors like Norton and TotalAV.

The only downside to the app is the slow process of installation, which can be frustrating for those who want to start right away. The “Reveal in the Finder” feature of the app isn’t functional. This is an odd absence from an antivirus program that competes with other solutions that accomplish the same thing with just a few simple clicks.
